The Book of Nehemiah is a book of the Christian Old Testament that is mainly in the form of a first-person memoir. The book itself is a story that tells us of the rebuilding of Jerusalem by Nehemiah, a Jew who is a high official at the Persian court. The Book of Nehemiah also tells us of how the city of Jerusalem was dedicated to God’s laws. Along with the Book of Ezra, the Book of Nehemiah concludes the last historical chapters of the Hebrew Bible.
In the book, Nehemiah was informed that Jerusalem was without walls, so he decided to restore them. The king appoints him as governor of Judah and he travels to Jerusalem. There he rebuilds the walls, despite the opposition of Israel\'s enemies. This alone was a difficult task to accomplish. The most important part of his work, however, was showing the entire city that it should follow all of God’s laws.
